Thermal Analysis of Filament Extrusion

While working on my Master degree, I had many opportunities to work with and assist other researchers within the research group. To help improve the quality of our shape memory polymer filament that was used for 3D printing, I developed a program in MatLab that is able to determine the cooling profile. This allowed for determining if liquid or air cooling is required, using both differential equations and the lumped system approximation (Biot < 0.1). Further, the program determines how much of the filament will be extruded during the cooling process.
